Young Rising Sons takes on their Spring Tour in Pittsburgh!

Young Rising Sons, an “unapologetically honest” band from Brooklyn, New York is touring currently with Lemondrop. Tuesday, May 14th, they played at The Crafthouse Stage and Grill just outside of Pittsburgh.  Right as I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the plethora of really cool merch designs from both Lemondrop and Young Rising Sons.

All performers from the local Pittsburgh artists to Lemondrop to Young Rising Sons brought the “rock out” energy to the Crafthouse on that Tuesday.  Lemondrop’s most popular song, “Strawberry Wine” is a head-bopping song not to be missed.

Sadly, at the beginning of the set for Young Rising Sons, there were several technical difficulties.  They played through a several songs acoustically; however, eventually the issues were resolved and the set could proceed as intended.  In their biography on Spotify, Young Rising Sons mentioned how they’ve played anything from sold-out shows to shows with only a few people that showed. Unfortunately, their Pittsburgh show leaned towards the second circumstance.  Though the crowd was small, they were mighty and went bar for bar with lead singer, Andy Tongren.

Throughout their set, they expressed gratitude in being there and were interactive with the audience.  My favorite thing to see was the lead singer of Lemondrop singing and dancing in the crowd. During the end of their set, they even brought her up to finish out one of their songs.  Seeing this companionship on tour was a beautiful and brought the energy up in the Crafthouse. The show ended with my personal favorite song, “Fucked Up.”  It’s one of their earlier songs released in 2015 and perfectly set the tone of their music indie pop vibe.  It was a fantastic way to end their set and the crowd loved it.
